Resolve - Ordered List Tips

For Report Writers or Meeting Administrators, this brief guide gives tips on using the Editor ribbon Ordered List to auto-create numbered lists and sub-level lists in the desired format

Prerequisites:

  • Access to the Resolve Admin portal (https://CLIENTNAME.resolve.red/admin/) and appropriate permissions to create or edit related Agenda Items content.

Using auto "Ordered Lists" can be really useful for Report authors to speed up the generation and organisation of numbered points throughout the document   As always with adding content to a report field, it's best to insert as plain text or with minimal formatting if copying from another source, e.g. Word.  Use the 'Clean' option when pasting or to start without any formatting in the pasted content, paste as 'Plain Text' or use the ribbon tool to 'Convert to plain text'. The below shows the location of this option on the editor ribbon toolbar.

Ordered List Tips
  • To start an ordered or numbered list, click into the editor field at the correct position, then using the toolbar button, click to choose the required format.
  • Hit enter to continue with the next numbered item at that top level.
  • If you indent using Tab on the next line, a lower level sub-list will be started.
  • To cancel out of the numbered list, hit Enter key a couple of times.  Or Shift+Enter for a soft return on to the next line without prefixing with a number.
  • If you want to change the indent for the level of list you are currently using, click option 'Change Indent' under the Ordered List ribbon button.
  • If necessary to correct a list item start number, use option 'Start Number' under the Ordered List ribbon button.
  • To return to a previous level list, use Shift+Tab

Example

  1. This is my parent "numbered" list using Default, which is using the Default numbering
  2. List item two
  3. List item three.  If I want to start a sub-list on the next line, I hit 'enter' then tab key
    1. This starts a sub-level list
    2. Sub-level list item two etc.  If I don't like the format used, I can change under the Ordered List menu
    3. Then carry on with my list.  If I want a further sub-list level, I can use tab on the next line
      1. Then use the Ordered List menu options to change the format to 'lower alpha' in this case
      2. Etc etc.  If I want to return to a higher level list, i hit 'enter' then Shift+Tab key to step up one level
    4. Carrying on my previous level list
  4. Using Ordered List, the editor should remember the next number, however if required, use the 'Start At' to reset the starting number at that point.
