Resolve - Video Streaming Equipment

Minimum video streaming equipment requirements

Resolve requires a hardware or software encoder that is capable of generating an authenticated RTMP stream for video services. If you use multiple video sources, the encoder needs to support this functionality or a video scaler will also need to be used in the hardware chain. We also recommend that the encoder is capable of creating a local recording of the video as a backup, in case there are any network interruptions. Redman Solutions team members will provide clients with configuration settings necessary for their encoder, as well as IP and port information for their firewall. We will test to ensure an accurate setup has been completed and verify stream quality. However, we cannot troubleshoot error messages displayed by the encoder or video equipment. Those errors should be reported to your IT department, local AV provider, or hardware manufacturer.

We do not formally endorse or require the purchase or use of a specific encoder; however, many clients find success using the following encoders:

  • Open Broadcaster Software (OBS): A free and open-source software for video recording and live streaming
  • Matrox Monarchâ„¢ HD
  • Extron SMP
